THAVALA ADAI (தவல அடை)

Thavala Adai, a South-Indian delicacy, is one of the Best Appetizing and Evening Snack one could have ever tasted.

INGREDIENTS:
Idli Rava - 1 cup
Thur Dal - 1/2 cup
Channa Dal - 1/2 cup

Urad Dal - 1/2 cup
Moong Dal - 1/2 cup
Red Chilli - 10-12 cup
Channa Dal - 1 tsp (For Tempering)
Mustard - 1 tsp
Curry Leaves
Coriander
Onion - 1/4 cup
Asafoetida - A pinch




METHOD:

  • Soak all Dal (Refer Ingredients Table) and Red Chilli in water for 1/2 hour. Soak Idli Rava seperately with little water (1/2 cup of water for 1 cup of Idli Rava).
  • Grind to form a thick batter (Coarsely) and add to the soaked Idli Rava.
  • Roast Mustard, Channa Dal, Asafoetida, Kasuri Methi and add it to the mixture. (Tempering)
  • Add Coriander, Curry Leaves and a handful of onion too.
  • Pour in a ladle of batter (about 1/2 inch thick) to a Hot Kadai. 
  • Add Coconut Oil to the sides.
  • Cook both the sides well.
  • Serve Hot!
